Norway Enters Phase II of Fiber Optic Infrastructure

N0r5ke Fiber AS has recently announced its entry into the second phase of the fiber optic infrastructure construction plan in Norway. The company will expand the dark fiber network N0r5ke Viking.

The program includes the construction of a submarine fiber cable of 900 km connecting Bergen with Oslo and a terrestrial fiber line from 500 km connecting Oslo with Trondheim.

When finished, this submarine cable project will form a dark fiber loop of 2.200 km long. The two new submarine cables will have at least 192 fibras.

The system will connect all international submarine fiber routes to and from Norway. It will also connect large data centers in Norway. This will enable the expansion of green data centers into new regions where green energy production is abundant..

Expansion of N0r5ke Viking could significantly increase redundancy and availability of dark fiber in Norway. It is said that this submarine fiber cable N0r5ke Viking, from 810 km, runs along the western coast of Norway from Trondheim to Bergen, con 12 landing points along the way. The project will create redundant connections with major cities, fiber optic hubs and landing points. It will facilitate Internet access for international customers.

N0r5ke Fiber is a Norwegian digital infrastructure company. It was founded by Norwegian entrepreneurs Anders and Bjørn Vik. The company invests, build, leases and operates long-distance fiber optic infrastructure between major Norwegian cities, data centers and communication nodes.

The N0r5ke Viking project will become a valuable data transmission link. This is because several new international submarine cables are being built. And they will connect Norway directly with the United States., the United Kingdom, Ireland and Denmark. And it will provide a low latency connection with the big IXs. The project is expected to be completed and operational by the end of December 2022.
