EllaLink, that will unite Europe and Latin America, will develop the Olisipo submarine cable system. The system consists of a fiber optic cable submarine not relayed from 110 km. The cable will land in Carcavelos and Sines in Portugal. And it will branch off towards the Seixal and Sesimbra landing stations to connect the Setúbal area.
The Olisipo submarine system is designed to connect all landing points of international submarine cables in Portugal with the main data centers in the region.. This provides a secure and future-proof infrastructure.
This submarine cable system will provide a direct POP-to-POP connection between the main data centers of Sines and the Lisbon metropolitan area.. Olisipo will connect the Start© Campus NEST of Sines with the Altice LDV data center in Lisbon.
The submarine cable system is expected to contain 288 fibras. It will have a total design capacity of 4,3 Tbps. The system will provide diversity of DC input points and hard drive protection in Sines. Olisipo has a robust and diverse route design. It will allow the interconnection between related networks through the Equinix network.
The robustness of the Olisipo submarine cable will be reinforced by the engineering of the submarine line. It has greater protection when it comes to cable crossings, the cable routing and underwater burial, and cable shielding. The Olisipo cable system is expected to come into service in 2024.
EllaLink owns and operates the submarine lines from Portugal to Brazil. Offers the shortest and most delayed route from Europe to South America. EllaLink is reinforcing the Portuguese interconnection system by developing the Olisipo submarine cable system within Portugal from Sines to Lisbon. EllaLink highlights that through the development of this new cable project it will integrate more customers. Their goal is to collaborate to expand and build a very important network connection.
