In a statement from 24 of June, Prysmian indicates that TenneT has awarded a contract for 700 millions of euros. It will be used to develop the high voltage underground cable system of 546 km y 525 kV DC for the second part of the SuedOstLink transmission project.

Prysmian will supply and install an onshore system to transport renewable energy from wind farms in the north and east to high consumption cities and manufacturing areas in southern Germany. This is crucial for the country's energy transition.

SuedOstLink consists of two projects: V5 y V5a. These two projects, 2GW each, will supply 4GW of electricity to Bavaria, Germany.

Prysmian says that the first 20 kilometers from the 550 kilometers of cable for the SuedOstLink route (V5) from 270 kilometers have been completed and delivered at the beginning of 2022.

As the V5a project will be operational in 2030, Cable deliveries for V5a are scheduled to begin in 2025. And V5a will work in parallel to SuedOstLink V5.

Prysmian's high voltage P-Laser cable for this project will be manufactured in Gron (France). Investing in a second new production line. The components of the network will be manufactured in Livorno (Italia) Y fiber optic communication cables and Slatina (Romania).

P-Laser cable solution offers more than 2GW of power transmission capacity in the system. The product is claimed to be the first technology of high performance insulation.

Es 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly, based on high-performance thermoplastic elastomers (HPTE). Besides, can achieve a reduction in 30% of CO2 emissions during production.

Hakan Ozmen, Executive Vice President of Projects of the Prysmian Group, has stated that, having already secured a significant part of the project in Germany, This expansion represents a further development of their trust and longstanding relationship with TenneT.

The project will set a new benchmark for the product itself and for EPC technology of underground cables.

Prysmian has supplied important high voltage direct current projects in Germany, as SuedOstLink, SuedLink y A-Nord. And has been awarded contracts worth more than 1.500 millions of euros.
