ZMS Cable supplies various types of transmission cables and related accessories to the National Electricity Company of Mozambique (Electricity of Mozambique, E.P, abbreviated EDM) for the project “Headquarters Electrification Project”. This project aims to increase the coverage of the electrical grid in Mozambique, improve the country's energy infrastructure and thus promote its socioeconomic development.
Currently, Electricity grid coverage in Mozambique is only 39%, and most transmission lines are concentrated in large cities and their surroundings. Nevertheless, with EDM's plan to invest more than 5.100 million dollars in the coming years in the electricity sector, a significant improvement in this situation is expected. This investment plan will not only consolidate Mozambique's position as a center of electricity generation and supply in southern Africa, but will also promote the development of new hydroelectric power plants, gas, wind and solar. By the end of 2024, It is expected that 3,8 millions more people have access to electricity, increasing national electricity coverage by 63% and achieving the total electrification of the administrative regions.
